Recap: Louise Eady Melbourne Junior Cup

This past weekend, Wyncity Keon Park hosted the inaugural Louise Eady Melbourne Junior Cup, marking the final junior nationally ranked event of 2024. South Australian Emily Hart and New South Wales’ Julian Dinham were crowned as the tournament's first-ever champions, celebrating their victories in honor of the late Louise Eady, a beloved figure in Victorian tenpin bowling known for her dedication to coaching junior and youth teams.

Emily Hart’s Victory
Fresh from her stellar performance at the Asian Junior Championship, where she won two bronze medals, Emily Hart continued her dominance in the female division. She led the competition from start to finish, posting a high game of 265 and finishing the final matchplay round with a winning total of 4,694 pins. Hart's performance secured her another junior title, leaving her nearest challenger, Jessica Chi, 346 pins behind. while Bella Westlake rounded out the podium in third place on 4,316.

Julian Dinham’s Triumph
Julian Dinham, just 16 years old, showcased his talent in the male division. After a slow start, he quickly regained his momentum, posting an impressive 280 in his third game and finishing with a total of 5,230 pins. Julian won his second national title of 2024, with South Australian Liam Cochrane taking second place and Julian's older brother, Justin Dinham, finishing third.

Looking Ahead
Although the Louise Eady Melbourne Junior Cup concludes the scheduled junior events for 2024, the junior rankings are still in play, with several events remaining in the Open, Women’s, and Youth divisions. These upcoming tournaments will determine the final standings, adding excitement as bowlers continue to compete for top spots.
